Marie Elizabeth Worms
August 20, 1910 - November 30, 2001
Marie E. Worms, age 91, of New Munich, entered into eternal happiness
Friday, November 30, 2001 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose. Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2001
at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB
will be officiating. Concelebrating will be Rev. Ken Thielman, Rev. Roger
Thoennes, and Rev. Ray Steffes, OSC.
Marie Worms was born August 20, 1910 in St. Martin, to John and Mary (Welle)
Mehr. She was united in marriage to
Leander Worms on June 10, 1936 in St. Martin. For a few years she worked at the New Munich Post
Office. She lived in New Munich for
61 years as a homemaker until 1997 when she became a resident of Pine Villa Care
Center in Melrose. She was a member
of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, Daughters of Isabella of
Melrose, Saint Anne’s Christian Mothers, Saint Valeria’s Mission Group,
a
Crosier Apostolate member
and a member of TEC (Together Encountering Christ) in Little Falls.
She loved her family, friends, singing, playing cards
and gardening.
Survivors include her daughter, Renee Nathe and her husband, Howard of
Big Birch Lake; sisters-in-law, Aurelia Mehr of St. Cloud, Martha Mehr of St.
Martin and Lucille Mehr of Mankato; four grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Patrick
and Julie Nathe; two great-grandchildren, Anne Marie and Jack Nathe and nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Mehr; husband,
Leander Worms in 1981; brothers, Hubert, Joseph, Jack, Fr. Henry, Fr. Al, Fr.
Chris, George and Isidore Mehr; sisters, Elizabeth Doll and infant sister, Mary.
Serving as casket bearers are Michael Nathe, Karen Nathe, Mark Nathe, Ann
Nathe, Patrick Nathe, and Julie Nathe.
Serving as cross bearer will be Anne Marie Nathe and scripture bearer
will be Jack Nathe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mehr Memorial
Educational Fund at Crosier Seminary in Onamia, Minnesota.
