Hildegard G. Uecker

May 8, 1911 - November 30, 2001

Funeral services were conducted for Hildegard Guse Uecker on Thursday, December 6, 2001 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Interment was beside her husband, Otto at Lakeview Cemetery near Grey Eagle. Hildegard died of congestive heart failure at Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls on Friday, November 30th after a series of strokes starting in 1989.

Hildegard Anna Amelia Guse Uecker was born on May 8, 1911 in Prairieville Township, Brown County, Minnesota to Herman and Emma (Dorn) Guse. She was christened on June 4, 1911 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. The family moved to the Grey Eagle area in August of 1916. Hildegard was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 4, 1925 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle.

Hildegard went to Popple Grove School for two years and then attended the Lady Lake School the remaining years. She worked for two years at the Reichert Hotel in Long Prairie, until Otto came into her life.

Hildegard and Otto Herman Walter Uecker were united in Holy Matrimony on June 7, 1931 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. R. G. Troeger. Their attendants wee Lydia Uecker Johnson and Arthur Uecker. The couple resided in Grey Eagle most all of their married life with Otto doing automotive and small engine repairs. Hildegard was very active in church activities, cooking for the school and the Senior Citizens Center. On December 31, 1994 the Lord took her husband, Otto away from her.

She is survived by her four children, Marvin (Ann) Uecker, Otto (Christine) Uecker, Ruth (Steve) Rosenberg, all of Riverton, Wyoming, and Delmer (Karen) Uecker of Grey Eagle; nine grandchildren, Nancy Uecker (Dan) Petermeier, Michael (Karmen) Uecker, Tim (Michelle) Uecker, Daniel (Debra) Uecker, Cheryl Uecker (David) Smith, Lynn (Julie) Rosenberg, Lori Rosenberg (Gordon) Chessey, Nathan Uecker and Jason Uecker; brother, Herman Guse, Jr of Long Prairie. She is leaving a large number of relatives and friends to mourn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Viola Eckel; brothers, Leonard and Elmer Guse; an infant brother; grandson, Jeffrey Uecker; and great grandson, Mitchell Uecker.
