Rita F. Stalboerger, age 84, of Melrose, formerly of Spring Hill died Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill with the Rev. Leo Liesen officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday after 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 – 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers and St. Michael’s Catholic Aid will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Rita F. Stalboerger was born on September 5, 1918 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Joseph and Anna (Kampsen) Eibensteiner. She married Quirin C. Stalboerger on May 3, 1938 in Meire Grove. They farmed in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. Rita was employed by St. Michael’s Hospital in Sauk Centre for approximately 10 years. They moved to Spring Hill in 1980. She has resided at Parkview Center in Melrose since September of 1998. Rita enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards and quilting. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid Association.
Survivors include her children, John Stalboerger (Alice) of Cold Spring, Jane Johnson (David) of Brooklyn Center, Bonnie Meyer (Richard) of Milaca, Doreen Meyer (James) of St. Cloud, Jim Stalboerger (Doris) of Spring Hill, Tony Stalboerger (Patty) of Lake Henry, Glen Stalboerger (Pat) of Cold Spring and Deb Hertzog (Tom) of Freeport; brothers and sisters, Hilda Petermeier of Melrose, Leona Bentfield of Melrose, Selma Stalboerger of Melrose, Werner Eibensteiner (Lucille) of Albany, LaVonne Eibensteiner, OSB of St. Joseph and Gregory Eibensteiner, OSB of St. John’s in Collegeville; 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quirin Stalboerger on May 4, 1989; brother and sisters, Hugo Eibensteiner, Frieda Winter, Mildred Welle, Elsie Felling and Florentine Walz and 1 grandson, John Meyer.
Casket bearers will be grandchildren. Cross bearer will be Amy Hertzog . Scripture bearer will be Melissa Johnson. Honorary bearers will be St. Michael’s Christian Mothers.
