Christine E. Rose, age 84

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport for Christine E. Rose, age 84 who died June 27, 2002 at the Pine Villa Care Center, Melrose. Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB will officiate with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Freeport.
Visitations will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Golden Years Senior Citizens and Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters will pray Friday 4 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. and parish prayers at 8 p.m. at the church.
Funeral Arrangements are with Patton-Schad Funeral Service of Freeport.
Christine was born on September 29, 1917 in St. Martin, Minnesota to Peter and Bertha (Hageman) Rau. She married John (Jack) Rose on September 28, 1937 in Freeport, MN. Christine and Jack owned and operated the Freeport Telephone Company from 1938-1950 at which time they sold the business to the Albany Mutual Telephone Association.
Christine lived in the Freeport area all of her life. She was a member of Golden Years Senior Citizens of Freeport, Christian Mothers Society, Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters and the Sacred Heart Parish. One of her favorite hobbies was making Afghans. She made one for all of the thirteen grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Rose of Freeport; four children, Herman (Therese) Rose of Osceola, Wis., Carol (David) Loxtercamp of Bumpass, VA; John (Sharon) Rose of Big Birch Lake and Judy (Marvin) Thielen of rural Melrose; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Walter, Louie and Leander; and two sisters Alma Brix and Veronica Scherping.
