James J. Nordman
May 27, 1936 - December 20, 2002
James J. Nordman, age 66 of Melrose, died on Friday,
Dec. 20 at his daughter’s home in Glenwood after a five-month battle with
cancer. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday,
Dec. 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose. Rev. Vincent Lieser will
officiate with inurnment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Melrose
Jim Nordman was born on May 27, 1936 in St. Martin,
Minnesota to John and Esther (Miller) Nordman. He served in the U.S. Air Force
during the Korean Conflict. On November 7, 1963 he was united in marriage to
Lois Rider in Minneapolis. He resided in Minneapolis and St. Paul where he was
employed for over 30 years by Lawrence Sign Company. He retired in 1996 and
since 2000 had resided in Melrose. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church.
Jim was a friendly and loving man, who enjoyed the
simple things in life, like talk radio, crossword puzzles and long walks.
Survivors include his mother, Esther Nordman of
Melrose; three daughters, Nancy (Steve) Hoffmann of Glenwood, Carrie (Brian)
Smith of Allentown, New Jersey, Amy (Tom) Spychalla of Woodbury; six
grandchildren; sister and brothers, Rosemary (Tom) Qualley of Coconut Creek,
Florida, Arnold (Janet) Nordman and Alan (Judy) Nordman, all of Cottage Grove,
David (Pat) Nordman of Silverdale, Washington and Thomas (Jeanne) Nordman of
West St. Paul; and former spouse, Lois Nordman of Park Rapids. He was preceded
in death by his father and sister, Ronelda Wessel.
Serving as urn bearer will be David Nordman with Jon
Hoffmann as cross bearer and Heidi Hoffmann as scripture bearer.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral and Cremation Services of Melrose.
