Joseph F. Niehoff, age 82 of New Munich died Monday, November 12, 2001 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors.

Friends may call Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. Melrose Veterans Honor Guard will pray at7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. and Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Joseph’s Society and New Munich Lions Club at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home Wednesday.

Joseph Ferdinand Niehoff was born on April 10, 1919 in Grove Township, Stearns County, MN to Anton and Elizabeth (Herbes) Niehoff. Joe was a veteran serving in the US Army in Panama during WW II for 3 years. He married Eleanor A. Sand on Oct. 21, 1953 in at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Munich. They lived and farmed in New Munich moving to town in 1981. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Society, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, New Munich Lions and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Niehoff of New Munich; children, Loren Niehoff (Jane) of Melrose, Alan Niehoff (Sandra) of Greenwald, Joelle Ehresmann (Tom) of St. Martin; sister, Mathilda Wachman of St. Martin; and 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Augusta Schmiesing, Veronica Woeste, Boniface, Frank, Ray Niehoff and Elenor Wachman May.

Casket  bearers will be grandchildren, Brent, Mark, Kurt, Amy and Jodi Niehoff and Ryan Ehresmann. Cross bearer will be Nichole Ehresmann with Catheryn and Kayla Niehoff. Honorary bearers will be New Munich Lions Club and Catholic Order of Foresters.

Memorials are preferred.
