Amanda
C. Nathe, age 96, of Melrose, formerly of Greenwald, died Monday, September 30th
at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Mass
of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 3rd at
St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Greenwald.
Rev. Ronald Dockenforf officiated, with burial following in the parish
cemetery.
Amanda
Nathe was born May 11, 1906 in Max, North Dakota, to Math and Christine (Sand)
Pflipsen. She married Edward Nathe
on October 17, 1933 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Meire Grove.
They farmed near Greenwald for 32 years before retiring and moving to
Greenwald in 1965. Amanda had been
a resident of Pine Villa and Pine Haven Care Center since 1994.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, the St. Ann’s
Christian Mothers, the Daughters of Isabella and the Persistan Pals Homemakers
Group. Amanda enjoyed her
grandchildren, quilting, gardening, music, and playing cards.
Amanda
is survived by her children, Maynard and his wife, Donna, of Cold Spring,
Dorreen Arens and her husband, Clarence, of Sauk Centre, Colleen Evers and her
husband, Dave, of Texas, Jim and his wife, Irene, of Greenwald, Allen and his
wife, Bernice, of Spring Hill, Bob and his wife, Sherry, of Avon, David and his
wife, Doris, of Greenwald and Rueben and his wife, Darlene, of Sauk Centre; one
brother, John Pflipsen, of St. Paul; 25 grandchildren and 26
great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward, who died December 3, 1967,
grandson, Kurt Nathe, and sisters and brothers, Josephine Lange, Angie Pflipsen,
Olivia Kuehn, Louie, Hubert, Mike, Herbert and Tony.
Casket
bearers were Kevin Arens, David Evers, Robert Nathe, Jr., Dean, Tom, Russell and
Cory Nathe. Serving as cross bearer
was Jenny Nathe, and scripture bearer was Lisa Nathe. The gift bearers were Kim and Loren Wenning and lectors were
Robert Nathe, Sr. and Mike Nathe. Honorary
bearers were, Loretta Nathe, Alma Wenker, Armella Eveslage, Monica Frieler,
Marie Thull, Clara Kulzer, Angie Meyer, Rose Uphoff, Beatta Frieler, Valeria and
Henry Uphus.
