Renee A. Moening

Renee A. Moening, age 86, of Melrose, died Thursday, November 8th
at Melrose Area Hospital. Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 12th
at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose.
Rev. Mark Wilberding will officiate, with burial following in the parish
cemetery. Friends may call from
3:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral
Home in Melrose.
Renee Ann Moening was born November 18, 1914 in Melrose to Joseph and
Anna (Hemmesch) Otte. She moved to
Wilmar, where she worked at J.C. Penny for several years.
She married Tony J. Moening on October 17, 1938 in Wilmar.
The couple farmed northeast of Melrose until 1961.
She worked at Welz Grocery in Melrose for 11 years.
They moved into Melrose in 1970. She
worked for the Melrose Telephone Company from 1969 to present. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in
Melrose, Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters, Saint Mary’s Christian
Mothers, Catholic Aid, Charter Member of the Schanhaar-Otte VFW 7050 Auxilliary
in Melrose. She enjoyed card
playing, dancing, reading, bowling, golf, and crocheting.
She volunteered for many years with Red Cross Bloodmobiles, and at Pine
Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Survivors include her husband, Tony J. Moening of Melrose; children,
Diane Kerfeld and her husband, Don of Saint Paul, Jane Moening of Braham, Gary
Moening and his wife, Rita of Cold Spring; daughter-in-law, Dianne Kerfeld and
her husband, Harry of Freeport; brother, Buzz Otte and his wife, Eileen of Saint
Cloud; sisters-in-law, Addie Otte of Stillwater, Ces Otte of Wilmar; 8
grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tom Moening; brothers and sister, Erv
Otte, Happy “Bud” Otte, and Delores Kluempke.
Serving as casket bearers will be Bill Kluempke, Jerry Kluempke, Jim Otte,
Dick Otte, Mike Otte, and Charlie Otte.
Cross bearer will be Dana Moening; scripture bearer will be Kori
Wilwerding.
