Kenneth H. Latzka, age 78 of Melrose died Sunday at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Minneapolis.
Services will be Thursday 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Melrose with Rev. Kenneth Thielman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Melrose with military honors by Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Pine Villa Chapel, Melrose. Melrose Veterans Honor Guard will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m at Pine Villa Chapel.
Kenneth Latzka was born on November 16, 1924 in Melrose to William and Marie B. (Grien) Latzka. He was a veteran, with a career in the Air Force serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He has lived in Melrose since retirement and has resided at Park View Center for the past 6 years. Kenneth was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 and American Legion Post 101.
Survivors include his brother, Camillus “Jack” Latzka of Melrose and sister, Katherine Latzka of New York, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers
and sisters, William, Beatrice, Charlotte, Blanche, Robert, Valeria, Joan,
Ralph and Rose Mary.
Casket bearers will be Paul Herberg, Jim Illies, Alan Latzka, John Oschwald, Lisa Latzka Illies and Patricia Latzka. Cross bearer will be Jane Jacobsen and scripture bearer will be Ruth Oschwald. Honorary bearers will be Earl Wiehoff, Joe Weber, Frank Klaphake, Lambert Hoeschen, Ralph Wiehoff and Arthur Rolfzen.
