Florence A. Koopmeiners
June 27, 1909 - November 23, 2001
Florence A. Koopmeiners, 92, of Melrose died Friday at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Melrose with Rev. Vincent Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday
from 3:30 – 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 – 11 a.m. at the Patton-Schad
Funeral Home in Melrose. Melrose Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. followed by
Christian Mothers, St. Elizabeth’s Society and VFW Auxiliary at 7 p.m. and
parish prayers at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Florence A. Koopmeiners
was born on June 27, 1909 in St. Anthony, Minnesota to Henry and Bernadine (Boeckers)
Pohlmann. She married Herman J. Koopmeiners on May 1, 1928 at St. Francis,
Minnesota. She lived in Melrose for many years and was employed by Litchfield
Produce. In 1961 she became a Federal Meat Inspector until her retirement. She
was a resident at Pine Villa in Melrose since 1994. Florence enjoyed playing
cards, gardening, yard work and needlework. She was a member of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, St. Elizabeth’s Society, VFW Auxiliary and
Melrose Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her
children, Irene Pohlmann and Gerald (Margie) Koopmeiners of Melrose, Mary Jane
(Sonny) Austing of West St. Paul, Margie (Gerald) Roering of Grey Eagle,
Florentine (Sal) Roering of Maplewood, Bert (Verlia) Koopmeiners of Waite Park,
Carol (Butch) Klaphake and JoAnn (Albie) Zenzen of Sauk Centre; daughter-in-law,
Kathy Koopmeiners of Melrose; 40 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, and 5
great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Adeline (Joe) Ebnet of Holdingford and
Evelyn Koopmeiners at Pine Villa Care Centre, Melrose.
She was preceded in
death by her husband, Herman on May 28, 1979; daughter, Joyce Koopmeiners; sons,
Jim and Elmer Koopmeiners; son-in-law, Lawrence Pohlmann; her parents; 7
grandchildren; sisters, Veronica Koopmeiners, Olivia Koopmeiners, Brigitta
Koopmeiners and brother, Jerome Pohlmann.
Casket bearers will be
Henry Pohlmann, Chuck Austing, Bruce Koopmeiners, Joel Koopmeiners, Alan Roering,
Russ Roering, Jeff Koopmeiners, Joey Klaphake and Daryl Zenzen. Cross Bearer
will be Nathan Klaphake and Scripture Bearer will be Laura Primus. Pall bearers
will be Sara Zenzen, Annette Schneider, Amy Bassett, Nancy Hanson, Colleen
Harren, Sue Doreo, Janelle Thell and Carla Hinnenkamp. Statue Bearer will be
Bethany Zenzen and lector will be Michelle Ettel.
In lieu of flowers,
memorials are preferred.
