Adella Ann Klasen

Adella A. Klasen, age 90 of St. Rosa died on Friday, December 27, 2002 at the Melrose Area Hospital from complications of multiple myeloma. Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday, December 31st at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. will officiate and concelebrating will be Rev. Art Hoppe. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm Monday and 8 to 10 am Tuesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary will pray at 6p.m., St. Rosa Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid Society and St. Rosa Lions will pray at 7p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8p.m. on Monday evening
Adella Klasen was born on April 7, 1912 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Gerhard and Wilhelmina (Steinke) Toenies. She was united in marriage to Anton Klasen on September 8, 1936 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. The couple farmed near the St. Rosa area from 1936 to 1994. Adella moved to a lake home on King’s Lake near Freeport. She enjoyed gardening, card playing, quilting, crocheting, cooking and driving her car. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa, Catholic Aid Society, St. Rosa Christian Mothers, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary and a member of the Crosier Apostolate.
Adella is survived by her children, Vernon Klasen and his wife, Marlene of Melrose, David Klasen and his wife, Mary Ann of Albany, Melvin “Micky” Klasen and his wife, Kathy of Melrose, Marilyn Bergmann and her husband, Ken of Grey Eagle, Judy Hennen and her husband, Ed of Freeport, Jerry Klasen and his wife, Patty of New Richmond, WI, Dan Klasen and his wife, Jeannette of Hudson, WI, Gary Klasen and his wife, Jocelyne of Gallop, NM, Mary Koetter and her husband, Mike of Freeport; 25 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Angeline Klasen of New Munich, Urban Toenies of Freeport, Mary Gerads and her husband, Roman of St. Anthony, Leona Silbernick and her husband, Frank of Little Falls.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerhard and Wilhelmina Toenies; husband, Anton Klasen on June 14, 1970; brothers, Norbert and August Toenies; sisters, Clara Klaphake and Teckla Scherping.
Serving as casket bearers will be Randy Klasen, Dean Klasen, Tony Klasen, Joe Hennen, Bill Koetter, Eric Klasen, Mike Bergmann and Anna Klasen.
Serving as cross bearer will be Kristi Klasen and Jenny Koetter as scripture bearer.
Gift bearers will be Leona Silbernick and Urban Toenis. Dan Klasen will read petitions with Kim Hennen and Becky Bergmann as scripture readers..
Mass servers will be John Klasen, Kelly Klasen and Ryan Bergmann.
Arrangements are with Patton-Schad Funeral Service of Melrose.
