Douglas "Butts" W. Kircher

Douglas “Butts” Kircher, age 75 of Burtrum, died on Friday, January 4, 2002 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, January 7th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Rev. Bernard Gruenes will officate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Patton Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Douglas Kircher was born November 4, 1926 in Round Prairie Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Warren and Anna (Dennemeyer) Kircher. He was united in marriage to Marlys Marty on May 29, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Douglas served in the Army from 1945 to 1949 during World War II. He was employed at Roper’s Appliance in Rockford, Illinois. Later he moved to St. Paul then to Burtrum where he married Marlys. He was employed with the Todd County Highway Department for 18 years. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and lawn work. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.
Survivors include his wife, Marlys Kircher of Burtrum; children, Tim Kircher of Burtrum and Melissa Koehn and her husband Jerome of Long Prairie; three grandchildren, Josh Koehn, Tyler Koehn and Libby Kircher; brother, Romaine Kircher of Hayward, Wisconsin; sister, Wanda Hessler and her husband, John of Coon Rapids; sister-in-law, Betty Kircher of Long Prairie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Anna Kircher; brothers, Vernon Kircher and Jerome Kircher; nephew, John Kircher.
Serving as casket bearers are Allan Kircher, Randy Kircher, Dennis “Pete” Kircher, Curtis Farrow, Dan Farrow and Mark Kircher.
Serving as cross bearer will be Billy Pohlmann and scripture bearer will be Libby Kircher.
Military Rites are provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
