Herman Joseph Brickweg

June 19, 1923 - June 30, 2002

Herman J. Brickweg, age 79 of New Munich, died on Sunday, June 30, 2002 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich.  Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB will officiate with burial at St. Benedict’s Cemetery in Avon.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose.   Parish prayers will be Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Melrose.

Herman Brickweg was born June 19, 1923 in St. Martin Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Elizabeth (Middendorf) Brickweg.  He was united in marriage to Adeline Kortenbusch on October 26, 1944 in Melrose.  He was employed as a mechanic at Purity Milk Company in St. Cloud, retiring in 1981.  Herman enjoyed fishing and card playing, and was an avid fan of amateur baseball.

Herman is survived by his children, Dave Brickweg and his wife, Rosie of Richmond, Jack Brickweg of Avon, Carol Euerle and her husband, Merle of Richmond, Mike Brickweg and his wife, Susan of Montevideo and Dan Brickweg and his wife, Kim of Melrose; brother and sisters, Joseph Brickweg and his wife, Mary of Blaine, Marie Christen of Melrose, Rita Loxtercamp of Meire Grove and Florence Schurman of Sauk Centre; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Brickweg; wife, Adeline Brickweg who died in 1982; brother, Tom Brickweg and one granddaughter.

Serving as casket bearers will be Chad Brickweg, Shawn Brickweg, Scott Brickweg, Eric Kohorst, Shannon Kohorst and Jerimiah Brickweg.

Serving as cross bearer will be Dillon Brickweg with David Keho as scripture bearer.

Serving as honorary bearers will be Nicole Keho, Jennifer Kohorst, Jessica Brickweg, Michelle Christopherson and Addy Brickweg.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral Service of Melrose.
