Mark John Borgerding

July 28, 1943 - May 14, 2002

Mark J. Borgerding, age 58 of Grey Eagle, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 from lymphoma at the Melrose Area Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Rev. Bernard Gruenes will officiate. A private family burial will be at a later date.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church in Grey Eagle. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Mark Borgerding was born on July 28, 1943 in Melrose, Minnesota to Cyril and Agnes (Holdvogt) Borgerding.  He served in the Army from 1961-1964. He was united in marriage to Judy Baird on February 24, 1979 at United Methodist Church in Grey Eagle. The couple farmed in the Grey Eagle area. Due to health reasons, Mark stopped farming and attended Alexandria Technical College completing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Design. He was employed at the Census Bureau in 2000 and currently was employed as a custodian for Greenview (a rest stop off Interstate 94). He enjoyed hunting, reading newspapers, farming and spending time with his family and friends.  Mark was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Borgerding of Grey Eagle; sisters, RoseAnn Zimmer and her husband, Allen of St. Cloud, Lenore Ohnstad and her husband, Jim of Faribault, Mary Lou Lundberg and her husband, Tom of Roseville; brother, Butch Borgerding and his wife, Jean of Minneapolis; nieces, Sara, Leah and Anna Zimmer, Britta Lundberg, Tess and Sophie Borgerding, Tisha, Brigette and Lindsey Baird; nephews, Matt Zimmer, Mitch and Chris Ohnstad, Erik and Anders Lundberg, Brant, Kyle and Jeremy Baird, Evan Lucius and one grandnephew, Trent Baird.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Agnes Borgerding.

             Urn Bearer will be Butch Borgerding with Allen Zimmer as cross bearer.

             Honorary bearers will be Mark’s nieces and nephews and grandnephew.

             Arrangements are with Patton-Schad Funeral Service of Grey Eagle.
