Julitta M. Blommel, age 83 of Freeport, died on Thursday, Dec. 20th at North Ridge Care Center in New Hope. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose on Wednesday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. and at the church in Freeport on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Freeport Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m.

Julitta Blommel was born on November 9, 1918 in New Munich, Minnesota to Henry and Cecelia (Wehseler) Pundsack. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Blommel on June 19, 1939 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Since 1970 she had resided in the Twin Cities during the winter and spent the summers at Big Birch Lake. For the past two years she had been a resident of North Ridge Care Center in New Hope. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Young at Heart Quilter's, Rosary Makers, 500 Club, Council of Catholic Women and St. Helena’s Senior Citizens.

She is survived by six children, Rita (Dennis) Heidgerken of Freeport, Roger (Althea) Blommel of Plymouth, Audrey Grose of Brooklyn Park, David Blommel of Maple Grove, Delores Brunsen and her fiancé, Paul Linkert of Eagan, Arthur (Cathy) Blommel of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Sr. Marie Wimmer, OSB of Seattle, Wash., Olivia (Cyril) Schwieters and Jerome (Clara) Pundsack, both of Melrose, Jeanette (Gene) Toenies of Cold Spring, Eileen (Ulrich) Lauer of St. Cloud. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence on Jan. 2, 1992; sisters and brothers, Caroline Mayers, Rose Schwieters, Margie Kenstad, Olivia, Theresa, Bernard, Elmer, Donald and Joseph Pundsack.

Serving as casket bearers will be Craig, Todd and Lee Heidgerken, Christopher Blommel, Jeff and Brian Grose with Aryn Brunsen serving as cross bearer.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral Service of Freeport.
