Happy Turkey Day!

 From the editor
We celebrate a couple of great holidays this month. Thanksgiving Day reminds us to be thankful for the countless blessings each of us has received over the past year. Veterans Day (November 11), of course, honors those service men and women who have helped to protect the abundant freedoms we now enjoy. Be sure to give a sincere "thanks" to Veterans you see this month for their personal sacrifices and for their dedication to our great country.

 Your Local Help Desk

Time is a very precious element for most of us; however, the Help Desk is asking that if you are not able to log in and connect the first time that you try, that you restart your computer, and try again in five to ten minutes. If you are still not able to log in and connect after this time period, please feel free to call the Help Desk. Please remember that it is always helpful if you have the error message ready that you are receiving when you are unable to connect. Error messages will typically have a number with them. Please collect as much information from these error messages as you can. It goes a long way in helping us.

Help Desk hours are:

Monday - Friday: 8am to 9pm

Saturday: 10am to 2pm

Tech Tips & Tricks

Shortcut Method Of Adding Attachments To E-mails

To add an attachment to an e-mail message, most people click on the paperclip icon of the e-mail message to be sent and then search for the file to be attached via the "Insert Attachment" or "Choose Attachment" Dialog Box. There's an even easier and usually faster method to attach pictures or other documents to an e-mail message. It's called the drag-and-drop method. This method works whether you use Outlook Express, Messenger or Eudora on either Windows or Macintosh operating systems.

If you've already located the file you want to send as an attachment, you simply do the following:

1. Create a new message in your e-mail client software.
2. Click your cursor arrow on the file you wish to attach to this new message with the left mouse button.
3. Keeping the mouse button pressed, drag the file over to the message window.
4. Drop the file when you have it positioned anywhere over the body of the message and release the mouse button.
5. Your client software will automatically add the file to the message as an attachment.

Questions & Answers

Q: When I type in a website address it  sent me to an entirely different page than the one I typed in. What just happened?

A: More than likely, this happened because the web address you typed in is actually owned by the site you ended up with.  For example, if you type in www.grandma.com, you would expect to go to a website that would contain information relating to being a grandma, but instead you end up at 1-800-Car-Loan website.  That is because the car loan company also owns the domain name www.grandma.com.  They have "redirected" their grandma.com address to carLoan.com to hopefully sell more car loans.
