Password Security
One of the most sensitive pieces of information that you will deal with in your adventures on your computer and on the internet is your password. Special precautions should be taken to assure that your password is kept secret, and to make sure that it is hack-proof. This information in the wrong person’s hands can lead to many, many headaches. Your email account could be accessed and emails could be read, someone could potentially use your internet service, and even gain entrance into your computer. Below are a few tips on keeping your password both safe and hack-proof.

  • Never give you password out to anyone.

  • Never, ever use whole words. If the word exists in the dictionary, it can be easily hacked.

  • Make sure your passwords are at least six to eight characters in length.

  • Combine special symbols with numbers and upper and lowercase characters.

FAMILY

I ran into a stranger as he passed by, Oh excuse me please" was my reply.
He said, "Please excuse me too; I wasn't watching for you."
We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said good-bye.
But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,
"While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use,
but the children you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."
By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.
 I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.
"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."
 I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
 I love you anyway."
I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

Questions & Answers

Question: Is there a way to find out how long a download is going to take before I actually start the download?
Answer: Yes. There is a  download calculator  which tells you approximately how long it will take to download a program or file based on the speed of your Internet connection. You simply type in the size of the file you plan to download. The site will then calculate and display the approximate download speed at a variety of connection speeds, i.e. 28.8Kb, 56Kb, etc.

Humor is Good Medicine

Cough Medicine

The owner of a drug store walks in to find a guy leaning heavily against the wall. The owner asks the clerk "What's with that guy over there by the wall?"

The clerk says, "Well, he came in here this morning to get something for his cough. I couldn't find the cough syrup, so I gave him an entire bottle of laxative."

The owner screams, "You can't treat a cough with a bottle of laxative!"

The clerk replies, "Of course you can! Look at him. He's too afraid to cough!"
