What to do when Windows Locks up
If your Windows operating system locks up, DO NOT  press the reset button on the front of your computer. Try pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete first. If you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete once, Windows will display a dialog box listing the applications currently running on your computer. If you see a "Not Responding" next to an open application or process, this could very well be your problem. If you just highlight that application and click "End Task" this should end the non-responding program. Be patient while the application or process is ending because it may take some time. When finished, close this box. Check to see if your Windows is running normally again. If not, try this process again.
If the computer still does not respond, you can restart the computer by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete twice.

 Tech Tips & Tricks
How do I know I am ordering from a secure website?

When ordering online you need to ALWAYS order from a secure site.  If you don't order from a secure site when you put your credit card info in it can be easily picked up.  By using a secure website the information is encrypted before it is sent out.

You can easily find out if you are on a secure website by looking in the bottom right hand corner of Internet Explorer or Netscape and looking for the Padlock.  If there is no Padlock or the Padlock is open then you are not on a secure site.  If the padlock is closed then you are on a secure website.

It is critical to your personal data that you order only from a secure website.  But keep in mind most websites are not secure until you are ready to checkout.

Make sure that before you enter any personal data that you have a closed Padlock on your Internet Browser.

Questions & Answers

Q: Can Microsoft Word help me think of a word that begins with "rep-" and ends with "-tion"?

A: Have the Check spelling as you type feature turned on.  For example, type rep*tion and space.  Or if you know that you're missing three letters, type rep???tion.  The wavy red line marks the misspelling.  Right-click the word and see if the word you want is in the pop-up list.  If it is, click it to insert it into your document, if it isn't look under Places to Visit and visit www.yourdictionary.com

Q: While working with a table in Microsoft Word, I enabled Table-Show Gridlines, but the lines did not print.  How do I get the boxed-cell look to print?

A:
Gridlines are a screen-only design feature. To add borders that will print, you can set the cursor pointer anywhere in the table, choose Table- Table AutoFormat, and select a predefined format.  One of the eight grid designs might work for you.
Or you can select the entire table (or specific cells) on the Formatting toolbar, click the Borders drop-down arrow to open the Borders palette, and then click the All Borders tool.
