 Happy Easter to everyone!
The birds are chirping, the trees are budding, the grass is greener, and Spring is here! My favorite time of year! Kids are riding bike, the parents are raking the lawn and the smell of fresh air brings smiles to faces!

But, just because nice weather is here does not mean you can stop surfing the web! (April is the month of showers!) This issue there are great links to various websites, some include Easter egg safety, gift ideas for the uncertain, benefits coverage for the elderly, and a calorie counter for everyone. So sit back and explore the web!
I would like to send my prayers to the troops and to the troop's families. You are all blessed! Thank you for fighting for our country!

Changing history settings on a Macintosh computer

The history  keeps a list of the sites you have visited in the past. The number of websites listed in the history is based on the history setup which can be changed to the users choice. Below are the steps for setting the number of sites that Internet Explorer will keep in the history in MacOS version 9.2 and lower.

    - Open your Internet Explorer browser
    - Click the Edit menu, and select Preferences
    - In the left-hand pane, click on Advanced

You should see two options, clear history and number of sites history will store. The default setting will be 300 sites. If you do a lot of browsing on the internet, set this to a higher number. Once you have visited 300 sites it will start to delete the sites starting from the first site visited. This can be a problem if you rely on history to remember the addresses of sites.  The second option is to clear out the history. This will delete all the sites you have visited since you started using the computer to browse, or since you last cleared the history.

 Tech Tips & Tricks
Spam Sense
Experts say that despite the rise in the volume of spam, there are things you can do to better keep it under control.

•Don't click the "unsubscribe" link. In a perfect world, you should be able to automatically get taken off an e-mail list by unsubscribing in this way. But spammers have co-opted the system and use the unsubscribe link to confirm you have an active e-mail account. They then sell your name to other spammers. Better to just delete the e-mail.

•Use a long e-mail name. The longer your e-mail handle, with letters and numbers included, the lower the chance that a computer-generated e-mail name will match yours. Spammers use software to generate thousands of e-mail names in the hopes that they will match existing accounts.

•Have multiple accounts. By using separate accounts for e-commerce and personal use, you decrease the chances that your personal address will get spammed.

•Avoid chat rooms and Web-based discussion groups. Spammers are constantly harvesting the Internet for new addresses. They do so by using software to search Web pages for names. Online chat rooms and news groups are easy targets.

•Limit how often your e-mail address appears on any Web page. This may be difficult, or undesirable, for many businesspeople.

•Avoid online contests and surveys. These are another prime vehicle for spammers to gather e-mail names.

•Check out new filtering software. Technology is evolving, and many creative solutions are being introduced by Internet providers and other firms.

Question & Answer

Q: How do I  unfreeze my Mac?

A: Try to Force Quit. Hold down the Option, Command, and Escape keys on the keyboard. The computer will try to shut down the software that is currently stuck. Once the software is shut down, you can restart your machine and Rebuild the Desktop. If Force Quit will not free up the machine, hold down the Command and Control keys on the keyboard and then hit the Power button on the keyboard.

Q: What if I can't find my saved work?

A.
There are a couple of ways to find your work. Option 1 - If you were working in Microsoft Office, restart the application and select the File menu. Look at the bottom of the list for the filename of your work. You might see a chevron (double down arrow), click on it and it will show you more options. If you do not see it go on to option 2.
Option 2 - Click Start, Find, Files or folders. Type in your filename and click search. This will search the C: drive for your file.

Attitude

An ancient grandmother lived with her daughter and grandson. As she grew frail and feeble, instead of being a help around the house, she became a constant trial.  She broke plates and cups, lost knives and spilled water.  One day, exasperated because the old women had broken another precious plate, the daughter sent the grandson to buy his grandmother a wooden plate.  The boy hesitated because he knew a wooden plate would humiliate his grandmother.  But his mother insisted, so off he went. He returned, bringing not one, but two wooden plates.  "I only asked you to buy one," his mother said.  "Didn't you hear me?"
"Yes," said the boy.  "But I bought the second one so there would be one for you when you get old."
